Joseph Huckins was a hotelier who owned and operated several hotels including the Huckins Hotel at 22 N. Broadway. Regarded as the most elegant hotel in the Southwest, the 10-story building had 450 rooms. Once known as the Lee-Huckins Hotel, the landmark served as the state Capitol for a month in 1910.
