William E. Ramsey bought this home from Nichols in 1924. A native of Texas, Ramsey started his career as a shoe clerk in Ardmore, only to be lured into the oil business by the prosperous discoveries in the Healdton Oil Field. He became a roughneck, a tool dresser, a driller, and a lease man, organizing his own company in 1914.

In 1926, two years after moving into the house on 18th, he became a partner with brother Walter Ramsey and expanded his exploration activities. Together, they captured a large share of the Oklahoma City Field after 1928, and in 1930 sold part of their leases and reserves for $10 million. They still owned 20,000 acres in the state's most prolific oil patch and entered other enterprises such as construction of the 29-story Ramsey Tower in downtown Oklahoma City.

The Ramseys split time between the home on 18th and a house on the Pacific Ocean until 1938, when they sold the Colonial home. Since then it has been owned by several families who have converted the second floor bedroom into a large suite of rooms, enclosed the side porch, added decks, remodeled the kitchen, and replaced the bricks on the front landing.
