Always ready to add architectural variety to his streetscapes, Nichols chose an English manor design for this two-story stucco home. Completed in 1923, it was sold to Mr. and Mrs. Saul K Bernstein for $14,000. Mr. Bernstein was an attorney, while Mrs. Bernstein was the daughter of Max Herskowitz, one of Oklahoma City's founding fathers.

In 1958 Dr. and Mrs. James K. DeVore purchased the house and completely redecorated. They rewired, gutted the kitchen, converted an upstairs sleeping porch to a bedroom, enclosed the sunporch, and added central heat and air. In 1968 the home was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Bob L. Hartman.
