This was only one of two homes not built by Nichols on the 400block of 20th. It was constructed in 1919 by Joseph Taylor, president of Taylor Land and Loan Company. Taylor lived in the home for a short period, then sold to Fox Wood.

Born in Arkansas, Wood was a civil engineer who moved to Oklahoma in 1917 to start the Ardmore-Akron Tire and Rubber Company. He also invested in real estate, mining properties, and oil ventures. Known as a great storyteller, he was active in politics as well. When he and his wife, Edith, moved into the home on 20th, they had two children, Edith and Fox. They remained in the home until 1972.
