History

This was another of Nichols’ classic Colonial Revivals, completed in the summer of 1918 at a cost of $6,000. He sold it to Ira A. Mitchell, a cotton merchant with his own firm of Mitchell-Bowers. Mitchell and his wife, Blanche, remained in the home only a few years.

The home has since undergone major renovation and changes including an extensive renovation in2003.

The upstairs sleeping porch was converted to a master bathroom; a half bath was added to the kitchen area when the kitchen was completely remodeled and updated. The garage has been rebuilt. The original chandelier for the family room and the fireplace sconces were found in a crawl space beneath the house and were returned to their original places. Richard Steinmetz & David Sanchez featured the home on the2004 Home Tour.
