History

Nichols started work on this Colonial Revival home during the busy summer of 1920. For the first four decades, the house changed hands every few years, with occupants ranging from J.A. Thing, co-owner of Thing and Son Dry Goods, to Roy Hanna, a deputy collector with the IRS.

In 1960 it was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Jay Simon. A native of Missouri, Jay was an award-winning sports editor for the Daily Oklahoman and Oklahoma City Times. Seven years later the Simons sold the home to co-worker Frank K. Boggs and his wife, Luan. Boggs began as a sports reporter for the Daily Oklahoman and worked his way through OPUBCO to become managing editor of the Daily Oklahoman. In 1986 the home was purchased by Mr. Philip Pipal and Dr. Jennifer Johnson, who completed a total renovation of the dining room and kitchen and started an addition on the west side.
