History

William T. Hayes, known as the richest man in the state and a resident of Heritage Hills, purchased this unique home in 1917 for his daughter, Viva, and her husband, William I. Richards. In 1923 Viva married William Peterson and moved to another home on 17th.

From 1950 to 1964 the home was used as a parsonage for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Three years later it was purchased by Mr. And Mrs. Clarence Julich, who replaced brick pillars with classical columns, enlarged the kitchen, and generally remodeled.
