History
The dominant architectural style used on the block was Colonial Revival, perfectly expressed in this two-story brick home built in 1922. Features include the balanced arrangement of windows, the central placement of the door, and the simple portico supported by classical columns.
When completed, the home was sold to Mr. J. Benjamin Russell, an oilman who remained only a year. Thereafter the home was owned by a succession of families, including three oil and gas executives, a manager of a John A. Brown Department Store, an attorney, and the president of Tinker Credit Union, John May. The Mays replaced all plumbing, added central heat, modernized the kitchen, and built an in-ground, concrete pool with a large patio area.
