This was the first house built on the block, started by G.A. Nichols in March of 1919. The design is a mixture of Colonial Revival and bungalow. On this house, though, the bungalow elements of design dominate with the repetitive use of identical gables, exposed rafter tails, large brackets, and the broad front porch. Nichols sold the frame home to Mr. and Mrs. Felix Smith. Felix was a clerk with the MK&T Railroad.

The Smiths remained only a short time, selling to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bissell and their daughter, Virginia. Albert started one of the first janitorial supply companies in the city.
