Yet another developer adding to the variety of 20th Street was C.E. Huffman, who built this two-story Colonial Revival home in 1919. Originally, it was frame, probably with only a small portico over the central entryway. In the 1970s the brick veneer was added and the large porch with classical columns was built. The first owner was Carlton Bentley, vice president and manager of the Curtis-Bentley Sash and Door Company. It was occupied for many years by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Conley and their children. Their son, Joe, Jr., operated an exclusive men’s clothing store downtown.
