This home represents the triumph of engineering over landscape. Throughout the development of the neighborhood, this lot remained undeveloped due to the presence of a deep gully running through the property. In 1956, the gully was filled by Mr. and Mrs. William J. Lazarus, who built this contemporary one-story home. Due to the threat of shifting subsoils, the builders used 18-foot beams for the superstructure; enough support for a five-story building.

This home is the only "Palm Springs Ranch" in Heritage Hills. It is a typical 1950's style with oriental accents. The entry-way has marble floors, as well as a black lacquer planter and display case.

Suzette and Kim Hatfield purchased the home in 1990. They enjoyed the convenience of a one-story house and living so close to the office. Before moving to Heritage Hills, they had lived for ten years on a suburban acreage with a hefty commute. They featured the home on the 2002 Home Tour. The Hatfields later purchased another home in the neighborhood on 15th Street which they renovated before moving in.
