History
This lovely red brick home featuring an inviting front porch was built by G.A. Nichols in 1920 for Mrs. Robert J. Walker. It was then purchased by John Coyle, who was married to Nichols' daughter Vivian. Several Nichols family members lived nearby. Originally from Nebraska, John's family had become leading merchants in Guthrie when it was still Oklahoma Territory. After statehood, John moved to Oklahoma City and was general manager of the Coyle family firm which specialized in "grain, cotton seed products, and hay." Later, he became secretary of the Nichols Development Company. John and Vivian Nichols married after World War I and made this their home until1932.
Bill and Carol Orr later lived in the home for many years and featured it on the 1995 Home Tour. Dianne and Steve Rasmussen purchased the home in 2012 and featured it on the 2014 Home Tour.
