John T. Robinson built this English Cottage style home in 1923.
Robinson was a native of Kiowa, Kansas, who came to Oklahoma City during the territorial era and established the Carrol, Brough, and Robinson wholesale grocery company. By statehood, with Robinson as president, the firm enjoyed a virtual monopoly on food distribution west of Oklahoma City.

Although Robinson was a 19th century man approaching retirement in 1923, he proved that he or his wife were contemporary in thought when they chose the English cottage style for their $30,000 home on 16th. At the time, the most popular styles were Colonial Revival, bungalow, or Mediterranean, styles that would gradually be displaced by the return of Gothic lines. Robinson was about two or three years ahead of popular taste. In 1944, four years after the death of Robinson, the home was sold to another pioneer family, Mr. and Mrs. Dan W. Hogan.
