History

One of the leading economic factors fueling the economic boom of the early 1920s was cotton, and one of the leading cotton brokerage firms taking advantage of the times was the Harris-Irby Cotton Company. Its founding partner, R. Neil Irby, and his wife, Effie, purchased this Colonial Revival home in 1920 from G.A. Nichols. They remained until 1950, when it was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Haskell Harris, who lived there until 1977. Murray and Chelle Anderson purchased the home in the late 1990s. Murray had grown up in the neighborhood at 514 NW 14th. They later moved to 409 NW 21st with their children, Thatcher and Ali.
