Built by G.A. Nichols and Horace Chandler this two-story frame bungalow was designed with three distinct sections on the front facade. Stacked identical gables on the end sections separated by the flat middle section are visually strengthened by the low-slung dormer on the roof. James Melson, president of a cotton company during the Golden Age of "King Cotton," paid $11,500 for the home in1919. Mrs. Melson remained in the home until 1948,and their daughter Pearl remained until 1968.

Dr. Brock and Kelli Schnebel bought the home in 1981. They refinished hardwood floors and redecorated to fit the needs of their family of four children.

Ed and Courtney Blau purchased the home in 2012. They extended the driveway with new paving and built a garage that is appropriate in scale, materials, and style with the house. They featured the home on the 2015 Home Tour.
