Nichols and Chandler were creative builders, using several basic styles of design and adding new touches and new combinations to give each house an individual appearance. This home, constructed during the winter of1918–1919, is like other Colonial Revival homes on the block separated into three distinct sections. But, unlike the others, it also has a porch separated into three sections and a gabled roof which complements that design. The large brick columns visually hold the entire design together.

Nichols sold the completed home to Mr. and Mrs. Don P. Lawhead. Don was president of Law Tex Oil Company, which had offices in the Colcord Building. After they moved out in 1921, subsequent owners added a second bathroom upstairs and converted the old ice box room downstairs to another bathroom.
