History

This bungalow changed hands numerous times, especially during the 1950s and 1960s when no less than eight families moved in and out. By the mid-1970s, its appeal as a starter home was revived as newer suburban homes were priced out of the range of many young couples.

In 1979 it was purchased by Peggy and Mike Green. Mike was an interior designer and Peggy was a teacher. They completely renovated the house doing much of the work themselves. They gutted the kitchen and bathroom, added insulation and storm windows, installed central heat and air, refinished all wall surfaces, laid wall-to-wall carpet, and built a new garage. In 1920, and again in 1980,the simple bungalow filled an important role as affordable, distinctive housing. Mr. Arnold D. Shreffler purchased the home in 1987.
