History
This is a more typical Colonial Revival home out of the Nichols and Chandler style book, with a centrally located entryway, decorative portico, balanced arrangement of windows, and sleeping rooms on one end.
Nichols sold the home in December of 1919 to Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Pierce. According to one contemporary biographical sketch, Pierce was “one of the first to interest investors of New England and New York in the gold bonds of the oil industry.” A native of Rhode Island, he moved west in 1908 and located in El Reno. Two years later he moved to Oklahoma City and specialized in oil leases and real estate and married the daughter of Judge Garrett Lowe.
