This home, constructed in 1918 for the unusually high price of $17,000, has been owned by two outstanding jurists. The first owner was Russell G. Lowe, an attorney with the prestigious firm of Ames, Chambers, Lowe, and Richardson.

He and his wife remained in the home until 1938, when it was sold to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Welch. A native of Indian Territory, Welch began his law practice in Antlers, where he served as mayor, director of the Chamber of Commerce, and school board member. He also was appointed a district judge, which led to a position on the Oklahoma Supreme Court in 1932. He remained in that position until 1959.
