Like the lots at the end of the block, this property remained undeveloped until 1920, when Anton Classen uncharacteristically decided to build a home for resale. Although Classen subdivided the addition, he rarely built speculative houses such as this moderately priced bungalow.

Classen sold the home for $16,000 to Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Copeland, who in turn sold it to Mr. and Mrs. George B. Stone. A native of Kansas, George was raised in Texas where he worked as a cowboy, gristmill operator, and real estate developer. In 1900 he moved to Oklahoma City and opened the Stone Realty Company and the Combination Oil Company. In 1909, as president of the Chamber of Commerce, he led the effort to attract the packing plants to Oklahoma City, a turning point in the economic history of the capital city.
