History
Reacting to public taste, Nichols and Chandler relied almost exclusively on Colonial Revival designs for the homes on this block. This home, constructed in 1918, was sold for $25,000 to businessman, George Frederickson.
Born in Illinois in 1874, Frederickson moved to Oklahoma City in 1900. With a $125 investment, he purchased half interest in a music store and expanded his business interests from there. By 1931, when he and his family moved from the house, Frederickson was vice president of Mutual Savings and Loan, president of the Oklahoma City Coliseum, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and president of the Oklahoma Club which he helped found. Oklahoma City University’s field house was named for him. George was the grandfather of Harry Gray Frederickson who produced movies for more than six decades.
