In November of 1917 Nichols and Chandler took out a building permit for $6,000 and began work on this home.

Typical of bungalows, the home has an open floor plan with nine-foot ceilings, oak woodwork in the front three rooms, and oak floors.

For heat, Nichols originally installed space heaters in most rooms. For cooling, he installed banks of windows to funnel air through the home.

Priced fairly, the completed home sold for $8,500 to Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Walker. He was president of Walker Motor Company, distributors of Winston, Studebaker, and King automobiles.
