G.A. Nichols built and lived in this home at the corner of 18th and Hudson with his wife, Alma, and their three daughters. Constructed in 1918, the Neo-classical home has a red tile roof and a front gable over a full height entry porch. Two pairs of classical fluted columns with lonic capitals support the porch. The façade has a symmetrical arrangement of windows with the centered door and a wing to the side. Broad, shallow urns mark the walkway, front entry steps and low wall surrounding the porch. The door entry is flanked by full-length sidelights and juts slightly from the façade forming a second-floor balcony with wrought iron railing. A tile floor ante-foyer leads into the central foyer with crystal chandelier and rich wood floor. The guest bath is located under the stair landing off the foyer. On the left, freestanding columns flank the entry to the living room, and a fireplace is the focus of the seating area.

In 1933 Nichols moved to a grand new mansion in Nichols Hills and sold the home to Mr. Powell Briscoe, an oilman who made his fortune in the Carter County boom. His partner was C.F. Hall, who sponsored Wiley Post's around-the world flight. Hall's daughter, Winnie Mae Hall, was the namesake of the famous aircraft. Wiley Post for a time even served as Briscoe's pilot.

Subsequent owners have included Mr. Walter Powell, a city attorney who also served on the early HPI Board of Directors, and Patti and Dr. Mark Mellow, who purchased the home in 1987. The Mellows made renovations inside and out, including enlargement of the kitchen, remodeling of every room, and installation of a tennis court, pool, and hot tub. They featured the home on the 1998 Historic Homes Tour.

Russ Harrison & Natalie Shirley bought the home and loaned it to be used as the Symphony Designers Show House in 2005 while they prepared to come back to Oklahoma from Arlington, Virginia with their three children. They featured their home on the 2008 Historic Homes Tour.
