History

This home was constructed by G.A. Nichols in 1924 and purchased by another veteran politician, John H. Wright. Although listed in the city directory as a “capitalist,” he was best remembered as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from Oklahoma County and a member of the State Board of Education. Members of his family remained in the home until 1982, when it was purchased by Donna and Robert Nichols. Robert, an executive with IBM, and Donna, active in civic organizations such as the Genesis Project and the Lyric Theater, remodeled, installed central heat and air, preserved special features such as hand-painted tile in the kitchen, and enlarged the master bedroom suite upstairs.
