History
Using the marketing device of building three homes side-by-side, Nichols constructed the homes at 1515, 1519, and 1525 Classen Drive during the summer of 1924. This home was described in promotional literature as a “massive English type,” with attached garden wall and gate for drive; huge rooms; living room, kitchen and breakfast room downstairs; three glorious bedrooms upstairs; two large tiled baths with built-in tubs, shower, and finest plumbing; tiled vestibule; huge basement and furnace, garages; servant’s quarters, etc.” In glowing terms, Nichols promised “the boulevard your driveway—the park your front lawn.”
The home sold quickly but changed hands regularly until the 1970s when William E. Griffith began a modest remodeling. The job of finishing the rehabilitation fell to Devon and William J. Wiggins, who moved into the home in 1984. They have installed new heat and air, added structural supports, updated mechanical systems, repaired cracks in walls, added closet space, and generally remodeled with paint and paper.
