History
This home was constructed in 1983 and 1984 as a parsonage for St. Luke’s Methodist Church. Reverend David Thomas, with his wife, Patty, moved in in March of 1985. They featured their home on the 1986 Historic Home Tour.
Designed to be compatible with surrounding architecture, this home was built on a lot vacated in the 1970s when the original home constructed by G.A. Nichols burned to the ground. The 3,200 sq. ft. home features many elegant touches, including oak woodwork, walnut bookshelves around the fireplace and kitchen cabinets with custom made art glass doors. It had gained some local fame as the site where two winged lions guarded the front door. Part of a matched set that had been installed on the State Capitol, they were given to the owner by Governor John “Jack” Walton in 1923.
