History

At the time Nichols targeted Harndale for development, architectural taste was turning from Colonial Revival and bungalow to European styles, especially English Tudor and English Cottage. Here, in a home constructed for $7000, Nichols chose Tudor elements such as a half-timbered Gables, steep roof lines, and the unbalanced arrangement of the façade. The result was a strong vertical emphasis reaching for heaven in the best Gothic tradition.

Current owners added a pool in 2012 and have restored the Carriage House. At some point prior to HPI the carriage house was converted into a one bedroom apartment. This addition added square footage to the west side to create the bedroom and bathroom. They have converted the structure back to a garage to emulate the carriage house. The additional square footage remains and is the poolhouse. They moved to the neighborhood because of all the families with children on this block. Some of their closest friends are their neighbors.
